Puzzle 004 - [Video]

[The video shows Luke sitting on a bench in a Pokecenter, with Hoppip nestled in his arms and Teddiursa staring curiously into the camera. Instead of his usually outfit, he’s wearing a Youngster uniform instead, except that he‘s still wearing that same old hat of his. While the little guy is starting to master future technology, he looks very bothered by something.]

I suppose it’s time to move onto the next town then. As nice as it was to stay in Cherrygrove, we can’t stay here forever. I'm not too excited about traveling for a week, especially with those wild Pokemon running about, but we'll just have to make the best of it and...

Um…

Something’s wrong, I can’t understand Mr. Bear or Hoppip…I tried to talk to them, but…I hope this isn't permanent.

It's not that much different talking to them like you would a person.

Sure they would! Except if they were too shy perhaps, but I've never run into an animal before that didn't have something to say.

[pause. that's a bit odd, in Roxas's head, but he's seen weirder]

That's...kind of neat. But you can't hear them now?

No...I can't understand them anymore. It's a bit sad that I can't hear what they're saying anymore.

They can probably still understand you. [pause] What sort of things would they talk about?

All sort of things! I could always tell when an animal was feeling sick or sad. Some of them would even listen to some of the puzzles I would come up with!

It was pretty useful on investigations! Although the Professor and I had a few incidents with nasty-tempered animals before, and talking to them wouldn't help no matter how much I tried.

What do you do back where you're from?

Uh...it's kind of hard to explain. I. Used to spar a lot. With my [pause] I would run a lot of errands for people.

Sparring? Is it something you do just for fun?

Yeah. It was part of another game, called Struggle.

[He looks curious.] How do you play Struggle?

Well, there are two people and you have these foam balls attached to you, and you have spar with the other person and collect as many of their balls as you can. Whoever has the most at the end wins.

Oh! That sounds rather fun! Do you win a lot?

It was [he's quiet for a moment, and then, almost distantly] Yeah, I did. I won a whole tournament.

You must really be strong then! I don't think I could do something like that.

I was pretty good at it, yeah. [He's kinda pleased to hear that] It's an easy game to learn, if you want to try.

I'd like to give it a shot sometime! [Admittedly, he probably wouldn't be able to get with something like this if the Professor was here, but since he wasn't he supposed it wouldn't hurt. At least he hoped.]
