Does anyone know how to train a difficult Pokemon? Er, I mean, I don’t think Hoppip means to be difficult. I just don’t think he…understands a lot of what I try to tell him.

Hm, I haven’t heard from the Professor at all since I’ve been here. I’m guessing he’s really not here, huh? I sure do hope he’s alright…unless he was taken away by evil Sentrets or something like that. Considering I almost had my face eaten by one, I wouldn't be all that surprised.

I wonder how many of you out there are good at puzzles? Why not take a crack at this one?

Well I am, at least. I'm not sure about the others, but I could ask Kazooie.

I was last on the Grand Line. It's an ocean in my world.

I don't think I've ever heard of a Grand Line either. Are you a sailor?

Used to be a bird?! So they bring animals over here, but turn them human? That's the strangest thing I've ever heard of!

Wow! You must have all kinds of exciting stories to tell! [Translation: I want to hear these stories.]

A few I guess. [Translation: Ask questions if you want answers, or he'll never talk. He's not the boasting type.]

Hn. I don't know about exciting. Most pirates are too weak to even be much of a threat. I guess the battle of Marineford.

That was my main job. White Hunter. I had a perfect track record until one brat came alone. And I'm still going to catch him.

Marineford was... well complicated. Mind a long story? It's rather involved.

Heh, I couldn't wish for another. Maybe just more of it. I was hoping to find even more strong pirate on the Grand Line, but it's been disappointing.

All right, Marineford is one of the central cities to the World Government. In particular, as you might glean from the name: the marines. In my world there are four extremely tough pirates known as the "pirate emperors." The strongest man in my world was Whitebeard. Because he's one of the four pirate emperors, Sengoku, the fleet admiral and head of all the marines laid a trap to catch him. One of Whitebeard's crew members was captured and going to be executed. Whitebeard is famous for rescuing and avenging any of his crewmates because he calls them all his son. So no matter what, even knowing it was a trap he was sure to come.

Because of the nature of Whitebeard and his crew, all of the marines all over the Grand Line were called in in order to help defend Marineford. Even Vice Admiral Garp and the three admirals were involved in the fray. And all the shichibukai were ordered to help. Not that the bast- ... brats, did.

[ooc: Heavy spoiler warning for One Piece Marineford Arc & a note that Ace actually went against orders, but Smoker only knows what Whitebeard and others told everyone. Annnnd this is all probably "Do not share" with chibi!Ace. And massive apologies for the TL;DR]

Not me personally. He was betrayed again by a shichibukai, same as the marines were.

Marshall D. Teach used to be in Whitebeard's crew, biding his time so that he could be the next Pirate King. Some time back, he killed one of their crewmembers in order to get a devil fruit that he wanted. The darkness devil fruit. As the Whitebeard crew is divided into sixteen divisions because there's so many of them, the division leader of Teach's crew went to hunt him down. Portgas D. Ace, that division's commander, has the fire devil fruit and tried to avenge his fallen comrade. There are two infamous laws that even the most fool-hardy of pirates try to follow in the Grand Line. Firstly: don't kill a fellow crewmember, and secondly: never kill a whitebeard crewmember because Whitebeard himself and all his allies and crew will hunt you down. Blackbeard (that's Teach) broke them both.

When Portgas tried to apprehend Teach, he lost the fight and the darkness-man turned the fire brat over to the marines instead. He knew the marines would pay a heavy bounty for Portgas, and even make him a shichibukai -- a pardoned or legalized pirate. But the only reason Blackbeard wanted to be a shichibukai was to gain access to Impel Down: pirate prison, so that he could unleash some of the worst criminals known to mankind. When he did that he came back to Marineford where he was supposed to be helping the marines and kill Whitebeard himself so that he could steal his devil fruit.

It was a very strange battle.

That's an incredible story, sir!

This Teach fellow sounds like a real scoundrel! He did really free the worst criminals in the world on everyone? That must've been really scary! I wouldn't want to cross paths with him.
