[A miserable, cold, and soaking wet Luke Triton currently found refuge from the storm in Dark Cave. He turns on the audio function, since it’s impossible to see anything other than the raging storm outside. A loud sniffle and sneezing can be heard from time-to-time.]

D-does anyone know how far the next town is? I’ve walked for about five days now- [another crack of lightning causes Luke to flinch.] - a-ah! I really hope this storm passes soon. I don't want to spend the night in this cave, I can hardly see my own hand in all this darkness! And I keep hearing weird noises...

S-since this storm might last for a while, would anyone like to hear a puzzle...?

"A snail is at the bottom of a 15 meter tree. He tries to reach the top. Each day, he manages to climb 4 meters, but during night, while he sleeps, he slips back 3 meters. How many days will he need to reach the top?"

I wish I had some hot soup right about now...

Are you in the Dark Cave? If so, you're almost there. Shouldn't be more than a day of walking after this till you get here.

And.... uhhhh.

[Well of course Heather can't pass up a chance to solve a riddle and show how awesome she is.]

... Wouldn't it be fifteen days?

'Cuz like... if he's technically only going up one meter a day?

G-great, a day of walking sounds much better than three days [sniff]. I just hope I don't have to share a cave with anything worse than bats.

It's not quite fifteen!

foolishwren: like what if you tried to sue obama and you just got a letter back saying "no" and he came to your house and did the worm (can you even sue the president)

[Of course, Heather is underestimating it slightly-- she's a little more athletic than your average person so she got a fair distance covered each day. But still, Luke's on the final leg of the trip, at least!]

[And once again, she finds herself slightly stumped by the riddle. Holding her hand up, she frowns and does the counting in her head.]

..... OH! Haha, duh! It's twelve.
